Is "The Dark Knight" all it's cracked up to be??

I mean, would so much emphasis be put on the movie if Heath Ledger was still alive? I haven't seen the movie yet and I'm just curious if the movie was rightfully hyped up, and not just because it's Heath's last movie. Is it worth seeing?
