How is a propane torch lit?

The first answer is correct except that shooting the tank will NOT cause it to explode. Check with mythbusters and you will see. Those kinds of things are fun for tv shows and movies but don't work in real life. A match will work too. Just turn it on and light it. If you are not so sure about doing it, have someone who is experienced show you how. It is simple and seay and fairly safe.
